Understanding Private-Label Manufacturing

Private-label manufacturing allows a brand to develop a product under its own name, from construction through to packaging, rather than relicensing an existing catalog item.

The process typically starts with a design brief or tech pack, moves through fabric and trim sourcing, sample development and approval, and ends with branded labelling, hang tags and packaging specified by the buyer.

Buyers new to private label should expect at least one to two rounds of sample revisions before bulk production begins, and should confirm MOQs per style, not per order, when planning a multi-style range.
